89 Iroc Cooling Fans
Hello everyone my name is Tyler and i am new to the fourms and have a few questions. I just bought a 89 Camaro iroc z with 5.7l TPI and the wiring to the 2 electric fans is crazy. I have a wiring diagram but i cant tell if the RH fan is supposed to run when the key is on. My RH fan runs all the time and i dont know if it is supposed to or someone wired it direct but it still goes threw the relays. And the LH fan turns on when the engine temp gets to 160 deg and that seems a little low. And i was thinking it was the fan switch on the RH side of the engine but from what i have read is that it doesnt turn on till about 243 deg. So any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Re: 89 Iroc Cooling Fans
This is the third fan thread I seen in the past two days! WTH is going on???
Someone may have installed a low temp fan switch. I installed a 176 and it works great when I'm waiting in a long line at In and Out.
Someone may have also wired the other fan to come on at all times. I forget which is which but one is controlled by the computer and should come on at a much higher temp (223 I think). The other has the temp swicth in the head.
WHO KNOWS WHAT SOMEONE ELSE DID!!!
The easiest way I would think to get a fan to come on all the time would be to ground the small green wire for the relay.
So don't bother turning the key on and check the green wires at the relays for a ground. If I remember right the one behind the headlight is the primary fan relay controlled by the computer. If this has a ground and the key is not even on then that wire is grounding somewhere.
