Water Pump
So I don't know if this is the right section to post this but I'll see. So my friend was looking under the hood and checking things out for me (he use to work on nothing but Chevy's for 20+ years) and he said I needed to replace the water pump. He said he could tell because he was able to grab the fan and he was able to move it around. So i went on to advanced auto parts online and they have one for like $30 bucks that is re-manufactured. So 2 questions.
1. How hard is it to replace the water pump?
2. Do I also need to replace the belt pulley?

Re: Water Pump
Not really hard at all but I Have electric fans you do not so I don't know how that is. The pulley should swap right onto the new pump. I don't understand how moving the fan makes the water pump bad.

Re: Water Pump
I mean I don't really either, he just said that it had to do with it being loose. I aint that experienced and he is so haha
Re: Water Pump
He's likely overreacting.
That said, if he actually was looking at the water pump shaft when he wiggled it around, and there is LOTS of side to side play where the water pump shaft enters the water pump housing, it would mean the pump is pretty worn out, and could bind and fail on you, and make it a real PITA to get home.

Re: Water Pump
When you go to buy the water pump, spend the extra $20 on a Haynes Manual - it explains procedures for doing alomost everything step by step.
