Air damn picture?
Air damn picture?
Hi guys, I bought a 91 firefired a while ago, I have since completly rebuilt the motor and been having cooling issues(350). I've gone through every issue except an air damn. I crafted my own to help deflect the air up towards radiator but my attempts fail to keep it cool. The car only overheats under load, like driving up hill. What I"m asling is for some pics of what the front lower air damn should loook like as i have none. If it's too tough to make I can always buy, but that's another issue, I can't find it anywhere. Plz help, thanks!
Re: Air damn picture?
Thanks for pic, but not exatcly what i need. Under my bumper there is nothing jsut a hole u can see through from top to bottom. I put on the metal plate near the front of the nose where the hood latch would go. As for underneath there's nothing, so I'm looking to see how the air is directed into the raidator. I made a lil scoop with just a piece of metal about 2 1/2' long and put it at say about 30 degree angle but there are no sides and I think it's cause it's jsut blowing out the sides instead of up. using a duel fan setup that's pulling the air. Eveywhere I see says car will overheat without the front air dam system, which i don't have.

Re: Air damn picture?
Airdam connects directly under radiator. It's not meant to deflect air into the radiator - it's meant to create a low pressure area (vacuum) BEHIND radiator and thus cool air is sucked through the radiator.
If you fashioned something under the nose rather than under the radiator, it won't work - greatly defeats the purpose if it's anywhere else other than DIRECTLY UNDER the radiator.

It needs to be a piece that looks like the pic above, that sticks straight down, about 3 inches or so - so that the low pressure area is created behind it under highway speeds and thus the cool air is sucked in through the radiator.
