heater core bypass
Hopefully I don't tick some people off by posting another heater core thread but I need a little individual help. I have an 85 IROC and my heater core went. I don't plan on driving it in the winter so i want to bypass it. The problem i'm having is there's a hose that goes from the radiator to the heater that is one size (15.9 mm I believe) while the one that goes from the heater core to the throttle body is another size (19.1 mm i think). My question is if i take the hose from radiator right to the throttle body would that work or would i have to somehow splice the 2 hoses together?

Re: heater core bypass
Hey, had the same problem a few months ago. My dad was a good improvisational mechanic during his youth. He showed me how to make a bypass for the heater core. Here's what i did. http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/DSC09283.jpg , http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/DSC09282.jpg , http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/DSC09281.jpg . There's a small bypass tube in there(I forgot the size 5/8's i think) that you slip between the two hoses then clamp that sucker down with the clamps that are on the hoses. Held for months until i saved up enough to replace my heater core with another brass one.
