Broken Cooling Connection, Need ID please
Edit: Found a broken connection/part

I drive 15 minutes to work and the car is knocking by the time I get there she is so hot.
Starting couple of days ago she is overheating after it warms up 5- 10 mins max, Idle, 40 and highway.
So far I changed the thermostat.
fairly new cat, can't rule out partial blockage by rtv sealant or somthing.
Data logging with Tuner Pro I noticed under fan request OFF. (Edit: Fan Request on software not related, confirmed says off when fans are on.)
In a 15 min log, of different speeds and stops car starts. There two different coolant readings.
On car start coolants read 133 and 50
through the drive the temps progressively raise,
7 minutes into the drive we are up to 159 and 70
Coolant High Code sent to ECM at 270 and 145
15 minutes into the ride we hit 309 and 154
Car is audibly knocking last minute of the ride or so
If I turn AC on and fan on high. Stock setup. Don't belive fan comes on.
But after overheating her a few times, I do see the fan kicks on ( for instance overheated, stop engine off, key on, pop hood and fan runs till engine is cool )
Engine cool, feeling hoses, bottom hose does have the metal in the middle of it. nothing seems to leak , havn't seen much change in antifreeze in resevoir. I am going to make sure top hose is getting hot.
(Edit: top Hose is Hot, indicating circulation past new thermostat. Watched resivoir, raises and lowers correctly with temp fluctuation)
I see can get a chemical test for the coolant to see if the oils leaking into it to check if gasket or somthing cracked on that end. I see a kit for it for $25 at autozone, just can't afford it atm, probably will grab it anyways.
(Edit: Purchased Block test kit at autozone)
I'll update and reply here as I figure this out, any help welcomed, was sad face when wasn't thermostat
