blower switch and hi speed relay-
Last night went out to driveway, and heard noise coming from kids '82. Turned out to be blower running on high with engine off/key out. From threads here noted the Hi speed runs direct from battery. Assumed sticky HS relay, so replaced with new. Also found the "STOOOPID" connector noted on boards, plan to change that soon. Anyway questions are:
1) Any other weird explanation of the fan to run direct from battery with key off?
2) Is it normal on this car for the blower to run in any speed position with the ignition switch on but not running?
thanks!

The new owner called me 15 minutes later from his house with this exact same problem.
The relay stuck, fan ran on high, key off/out of the ignition switch.
I went over pulled the relay, banged it on the ground to free the contacts and plugged it back in. It worked fine after but, I advised that it would be better to just go get a new one for $10-15.
The relay bypasses the lower speed settings and is the only way the fan can get power with the ignition off (unless the HVAC wiring has been rigged).
