fan switch not working??

I have the green w/white stripe grounded so I can turn the fan on when I want to. I left the switch off while idling, and it was getting too warm, and the fan wouldn't come on till I turned it on w/the switch. Could the fan switch be bad? Would the fan come on w/ground switch if the fan switch was bad?
Any input would be appreciated.

Re: fan switch not working??

Those fan switches are famous for short lives , and as long as you provide a ground through either the fan switch OR your manual switch to the relay, the fan should go on

I remember now when I blew a relay the fan didn't come on when I grounded the green/whit stripe wire. It didn't occur to me till after I posted the thread. So grounding the switch is the same a bypassing it?
