I drove home from lunch today only to find when I parked there was steam coming from under the hood

When I opened the hood there was coolant everywhere, I didn't see where it was coming from so I fired it up and found the leak. When I wiggled the hose it came right off of the part, with a piece of the part in the hose still :/



What is this part?



I guess i need a new one.

 

Not sure what is it called off the top of my head, but i replaced mine recently.
I took it to aut zone they have them in. Easy fix!

 

heater control valve. like 40 bucks for a AC Delco one

 

I paid under $20 at auto zone. It worked great..

 

thats a common problem those breaking with the plastic still in the hose

 

heater diverter valve . not very expensive , G.M. used same on many cars . common failure/ breaking of 20yr. plastic . good luck .

 

You guys are wonderful, bought the part for ~30 bucks and its running as sexy as ever

 

good job. you need to put the vacume line back on top of it though otherwise your ac wont work as good as it could.
