How to build a better air dam for 3 dollars
After I had re installed my ground effects on my car I noticed it was having trouble cooling at interstate speeds due to the gfx blocking the air dam

I had to make a new piece to extend off the lower one so that it could grab air from underneath the gfx. My buddy Paul suggested an old rubermaid garbage can I had in the back yard!

That seemed like a good idea because it's flexible against curbs and speed bumps so I cut a strip out and two more strips to go behind it for reinforcement

When to lowes and bought some screws for about $3 dollars and attached it

You can see in the pic above it drops down about two inches further then the stock piece. I then painted it black

And then installed it back on the car

It drops down just enough to catch the air the other was missing. I then tested it out and was able to clear the speed bumps in my neighborhood and then ran it on the interstate.

My temp stayed consistent. Not over heating anymore and it was a cheap easy fix that looks really decent on the car!

Great job!I need a airdam also. I think I might give this a try.
Thanks for the great info. I wish I had the exact measurement for my 89 camaro.
If there is anyone out there with a airdam on there 89 RS maybe you could measure and give me the #s.

I just did this install today as well it's a very smart idea my stock air damn measured 34x5 so what I did was got a trash barrel an cut it 34x6,1/2 the air damn sits alot lower to the ground now an keepsthe car cool right around 180 in the city an around 175 on the highway I'm very impressed with this idea an thanks alot for sharing it with us all
