Evil accumulator will not come off!

I am attempting change my a/c system over to R134a as the old R12 compressor died. I am replacing all the parts I can as my 92 v6 vert is pushing 20 years old, and I am in Phx and a/c is a must. I can not get the rear fitting/nut to loosen on the accumulator! The tube going back into the firewall wants to bend and I do not want that to break! Is it by chance reverse threaded?
Also, can anyone tell me what the factory # of lbs of r12 went into this system? I know I can only use 85% of R134a, but my label melted off of the old comp.
I appreciate your help!
