Is this the right diagram?

Just like so many other folks on here, I'm dealing with an add-on manual fan switch. Only one of the previous owners had NO idea what he was doing and now my fans don't work at all! The vehicle is an '88 Pontiac GTA with a 5.7L TPI, dual electric fans and A/C.

I'm looking at a Haynes manual 79019 for Firebirds in chapter 10 on page 36. The diagram is labeled "Heating and A/C systems (including engine cooling fan system) - 1988 and later V8 engine TPI (without heavy duty cooling)"

I looked at the colors of the wires and matched them to the diagram and the dark green with white makes it look like I shouldn't use the heavy duty cooling diagram. However the manual doesn't have the second fan motor illustrated in either diagram. Thoughts?

I'm trying to restore the factory configuration and control, then probably upgrade to Willie's Total Fan Control shortly after. For right now I just need them to work because central TX is hot.

Also, I'm probably going to start asking more questions about un-"f-ing" the the cob-job thats in there now. There's all kinds of ugly splices... I don't suppose anyone here happens to be the particular owner of the police white (used to be red) notchback from San Antonio who made the wiring mess?

I really appreciate any help!

Re: Is this the right diagram?

Step 1: Burn the Haynes manual. Haynes manuals are very Generic. OK, not completely useless books but......

Ste 2: Go here... http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=19 for better wiring & the "go to guy" for wiring questions.

Step 3: Buy you a GM Service Manual for future reference for the whole car. http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_...Manual&_sacat= Not exactly cheap (i found mine for $45), but you won't regret buying one.

Re: Is this the right diagram?

I've definitely made a couple "installation is the reverse of removal" jokes, I'm not denying Haynes is pretty generic!

The diagram you linked my to on ATGO looks awesome, I'm gonna print that.

I'm definitely gonna get a shop manual. I just happened to find that Haynes on craigslist for $5. I think it was the best $15 I've ever saved hahaha!
