Coolant Sender Thread Size
I didn't think I was this stupid! I'm trying to rehook my factory temperature gage in my 305. P.O. installed aftermarket gage with a nipple in the block. New coolant temp. sender doesn't thread into the nipple and is way too small for the block. Sender is correct (1 wire), and I know where it goes (between 1&3), what do I need to get? Could DRYSEAL or NPTF threads be the problem?

Maybe it was a cheap Chinese metric thread set up? A trip to Ace ought to set you up. No adaptor should be needed for a stock sending unit in a stock head. Are they aftermarket heads?

Stock GM cylinder head holes (and senders) are 3/8" NPT. Aftermarket heads like Holley's can have 1/2" NPT.
Aftermarket senders can be 10mm or 12mm
Aftermarket senders can be 10mm or 12mm
