So Many Connectors

Ok, so my temp gauge isnt working. I know its the connector on the cylinder head. After researching I figured that out and saw it had been cut. I have no idea what the connector looks like and there are many connectors of shapes and sizes. I thought it was the single green wire connector on hawks but it says 89+

also looks like this connector would work but not sure

ANy help would be great as im about to take a 1100 mile trip from NW Arkansas to home in Orlando and id love to have a workign temp gauge lol

Re: So Many Connectors

both links are the same.
the connector looks like the good one, although for a quick fix one of those crimp on femalte spade things will work too. Your sender is just a simple single blade that the pigtail plugs onto.

Re: So Many Connectors

Edited the other connector link, missed that. I tried your idear earlier but non of the connectors I had would slide over the round end for the sensor connected to the cylinder head. I thought I also read that it has a sensor (diode or some type of resistor) that gets hotter or cooler which adjust the gauge inside the car

Re: So Many Connectors

Take a look at your sender. It it has a plasticmushroom looking prottrusion with a round connector inside (same as knock sensor), use the 2nd plug. If it's a simple spade, use the 1st.

Re: So Many Connectors

The hawks link is the connector (a female spade connector can be used as well, less the pretty plastic) for the temperature sender (dash gauge)

The AZ link is for the fan switch plug.

The last AZ link you posted is for the ECM coolant temp sensor and harness plug.

Re: So Many Connectors

im pretty sure the link you posted is for either a LT1 or LS1 engine. Stock replacements are cheap and like deadbird said all you need to do to connect them is a female connector. I had mine like that for years on my small block till I went LS

I'm not sure of your worries. The temp gauge sender is the same one (resistance wise vs temp) since the 70's. How you terminate the connection to the sender is irrelevant, as long as the green wire it touching the terminal contact on the sender.

Tape, solder, wrap the bare wire, etc. It doesn't have to be a factory connector to make contact, unless your worried about preserving OEM for historic purposes.

Re: So Many Connectors

on the links you posted, the first one is the stock connector for the gauge sender, which is the green wire on the driver side head between #1 and #3 cylinders. the second pic is for the fan switch. which is located on the passanger side head between #6 and #8 cyllinders. the pic you posted of your broken sender, looks like the coolant gauge sender and it is broken. you can either get a stock replacement coolant gauge sender and correct pigtail. or you can get a replacement gauge sender with a male spade connector on it, then you just attatch a female spade connector on the wire and plug it in and youre good to go.
