Bad blower motor/resistor?

Hey all,

So I've been pretty active lately in trying to get the 'bird back into street-worthy condition lately, and it looks like I may have figured out an old issue from before. Back when I was driving the car, I'd occasionally hear a high pitched static/buzzing sound coming from behind the vents/under the hood somewhere, but had no clue what it was.

The other day, while listening to the engine running from under the hood, it started making the same noise I remembered hearing before, and it was coming from near the heater box. Another thing I've noticed, with my car off, and the key in the ignition (accessory mode), the vents have somewhat decent airflow, but when the car is running w/the heater on, I get poor airflow through the vents (heat slowly makes it's way through though).

Are these simply classic bad blower motor symptoms, or just a resistor? I'm mainly curious because one, I'll need a good working defrost if I start driving this car again around this time of year :P, and second, I'm planning to remove my A/C and install a delete pulley, so if I need to replace it, I want to know if I have to get some kind of non A/C version.

Re: Bad blower motor/resistor?

Resistors control lower fan speeds. Sounds like the motor is on the way out.

Fairly inexpensive piece to replace, too.

Re: Bad blower motor/resistor?

Thanks! I guess my only question I have left, is if I plan to do an A/C delete on my car in the not too distant future, should I buy a non A/C version of the blower motor, or does it matter?
