Fitting on water pump: draw or push?

I'm fitting a KC4-style oil cooler to our LeMons racer and was going to plumb it straight off the water pump.

My understanding is that fitting was for the heater core on older cars, but is that port on the "push" or "draw" side of the pump.

In other words, does the water pump send water out of that fitting (like into the block) or pull water in (like from the rad).

Thanks!

I think it draws it in cuz most people run water from an intake fitting to heater core than back from the heater core to the water pump fitting. That's how I have mine and works fine for having hot heat.

Usually any hose attached to the water pump is suction or draw.
