OK the case on my factory compressor was cracked and looking freon so I bought a new compressor and filled it with R34 and now at idle the compressor vibrates like crazy......my dad said that the head temperature on the compressor needs to be lower with r34 so would a low temp fan switch help this??? Also is there any extra bracing on an 86 tpi a/c system??

also its an 86 car with a 350 swapped in and still utilizing factory air conditioning parts....did the 87 350 cars have anything different in order to use the air cause i recall prototype 350 cars without air conditioning for some reason?????

my 83 trans am is doing this exact same thing. i actually tore a belt in half yesterday and the new belt is also vibrating still. i turned off the AC and that seemed to stop the vibration (AC was non op on this car until a few days ago)

the vibration is from not having it braced correctly....if you look on top of the a/c bracket you will find a threaded hole which is where a brace runs from it to the intake.....i have never found this brace for sale so i am gonna have one made....hope that helps

If it is braced and all brackets are being used and the bolts are tight then check for a broken bracket or something broken allowing it to move. Get a pry bar and do some exploring.

my buddy who put the motor in said he couldn't attatch the bolt that goes from the AC bracket to the head because the car has aftermarket headers. he told me that when he gets back into town he'll get a measurement of that bolt and we can go get a longer one and attatch it to the AC bracket. he said he wasn't really worried about that missing bolt since he thought the AC was inop. once i found out there was a little charge in ti, i charged it up and plugged it in and it was working. so i guess i'll juist wait till he gets back and hopefully putting in that bolt will stabilize the AC compressor.

You do need a longer bolt and I grinded the corners off of mine to clear my headers better....if you need the bracket call Hawks they will fix you up

I've got the bracket on the car and the bolt from the stock manifolds and a shim to hold it. i just need my buddy to install it. i have a fuel leak as well that needs taken care of. i got 9.6mpg on the last tank not knowing there was fuel leaking at the pump under the hood so hopefully it'll improve once that's fixed.
