New compressor not working

Last fall I decided to get my ac fixed. Took it to a chevy dealer and they diagnosed it as a bad comp. Ok decided to do it right and have them install a new one r134 and that should solve my problems. After shelling out over 600 bucks this spring the comp wouldnt even turn on. Back to the dealer another 95 bucks and they evac the system and added some freon they said leaked out but couldnt find any leaks. One week later comp wont turn on again sure its the same problem. One thing they did say was the system was only a half # low and usally the comp stops when the switch senses 1# LOW SO SAID i HAD A SENSITIVE SWITCH. Help dont know what to do now dont want to throw more money into this if they cant figure out whats wrong. Suspect these chevy mech only know new cars and not much about my 1987 Irocz 5.7.

I can't be of any real help, but here's my story. I fought the AC in my 85 for a number of years. I tried R12, converted to 134 and back to R12. Had the system charged multiple times by several shops. Had the system dyed and sniffed. One shop told me the leak was untraceable. Finally, the last shop searched more thoroughly and located a hole on the backside of the condenser. New condenser and all is well after years and several hundred bucks in recharge fees.

BTW, with my leaky condenser, the charge would last around three months. If yours is leaking so quickly that after a week the compressor won't cycle on, I'd say the leak is severe.

I'd have a sit-down with the service manger.
