Replacement radiator for car with planned hi-perf upgrades

Hi all,

I have an '89 Camaro with a throttle body 305 and what appears to be the stock radiator. This radiator has done an adequate job of cooling the car, but it has sprung a serious leak. In the short term I will just be driving the car as it sits, but I have acquired a 350 that I would like to install this year. My plan is to make around 330 horsepower at the crankshaft, or roughly 265 at the wheels.

Can I get some radiator/cooling fan recommendations from others who are making similar power levels? My budget is limited, so I don't want to pay for a lot more cooling capacity than what I need (although a bit extra capacity for future power additions would be OK).

Thanks for your suggestions!

Re: Replacement radiator for car with planned hi-perf upgrades

I'm guessing that I'm getting a little too specific in my request... How about what kind of cooling system are people using who have cars running in the 13.00-14.20 time bracket in the quarter mile? That kind of cooling should be sufficient for my car.

Thanks again for your replies!

I don't think that is a bad price. Do you know someone running a radiator from them? I see you run a True Cool radiator, do you remember how much you paid for that? I suspect that your car is making a lot more power than I am planning to move up to, so the True Cool would certainly cover my needs.

A stock replacement rad will be just fine, as long as your fans are working properly.
