2 part problem :(

for the past little while the car has been getting vary hot in the city, i didn't know why so yesterday morning i popped off the rad cap to find an orange and green mixture in my rad and i got a rad flush in may. this got me thinking to buy a new high performance rad with electric fan instead of the stock rad and pulley fan. any suggestions other then a new rad with electric fans?

Also this morning i was on my way to Syracuse to the nationals and i pulled over at the canadian duty free to buy a drink at 7AM turned my car off it was running cool, then came out and it wouldn't go. the starter would turn once then die.... we tried boosting it, cooling it down and i sat there for 2 hours letting it cool down and the same result no go! then a flat bed tow truck came to pick it up and dragged my exhaust on the ground well putting it on the truck, then well getting it off the truck once again he back the car off smashing my tips again denting them and scratching them pretty bad and they are new magna flow 3" tips (the weird thing is that he drove away before i could pay him). so the mechanic gets me to turn the car over and turns once then nothing, so i turn the key again and it fired and i pumped the gas and it started 4 hours after i shut it off..... i drove it home parked it in the garage and it won't start anymore...... i did some reading and it seems to be a weak starter or the motor has fried the starter from the heat of my headers, so my question is! what is the best starter motor for handling high heat temperatures as well as methods for keeping the heat off it

Thank you for any input!

Are you sure its your starter? it does sound like it... you can try the old "bang" method, smack your starter with something heavy like a hammer or big rock while someone cranks it over, if it starts your starter is bad. Ive seen places like Jegs selling heatshields for starters but I dont know anyone who uses them other than some insane drag cars. I would just get a regular started from a local parts store, try to get a new one seeing I had some bad rebuilt ones before out the box.

If it won't start after sitting 2 hrs, it's not heat soak. Before throwing money at new starters, start by checking the batt cables and terminals at both ends.

How healthy's your battery?

I agree, check your batt for dead cells. I just had a similar issue and my dead cell was on the ground terminal, so it acted like a bad ground and would only turn over sometimes. Try putting a known good battery in there and that should get you closer to the problem.
