NEW PROBLEM: Transmission fluid leaking from coolant lines
NEW PROBLEM: Transmission fluid leaking from coolant lines
So everything was to good to go or so I thought with my new radiator. First start up, I checked for any leaks and sure enough, both transmission coolant lines leading into the radiator started squirting out transmission fluid! I had connected the lines just as they were on the old radiator. Is there now transmission fluid in my new radiator? Does this mean the new RAD is now ruined? Need help fast!

those flare fittings can be tricky-they can leak if tightened down with line at slight angle-loosen nut and try to reposition line exactly straight to fitting and retighten.BE careful not to strip the fittings in the radiator-if that happens you will have to use a seperate cooler.

Bad news. As I started to undo the lines, a bunch of shaved off metal bits starting coming out with it. I guess that means the threads are now stripped.

seems to be a pretty common occurance with aftermarket radiators...could install seperate air-cooled tranny cooler,i used one from an early 90s ford explorer-mounted a little fan to it to insure a good blast of air through it.In the meantime,if you have to use the car,you could join the cooler lines with a lenght of hose and drive in a manner that will not get the tranny hot
