Need some answers fellas
ok so here’s the issue, a customer brought in a 88 Camaro with the TPI 5.7L in with a cooling issue.
We installed a new radiator and noticed the fans weren’t functioning properly. After digging into the car more both fans were wired into a single relay, and that relay was completely fried.
We replaced BOTH relays, hooked them up according to the wiring diagrams we had found, but the aux. fan will not turn on which is supposed to be around 210 degrees. BUT if we take the wire out of the coolant fan switch, and ground it, the fan kicks on no issues. So we replaced that switch, and still nothing.
The other fan turns on around 234 degrees like it’s supposed to. Any ideas would be grateful. I’m new to these cars and so far I’m not liking them at all.

You possibly have a defective coolant fan switch, I have been seeing more and more new parts that are defective.

Need more info. You say the aux fan. Which fan are you talking about? The primary fan is the driver side fan which turns on around 230 degrees. This is the main fan for cooling the engine. The secondary fan is the pass. side fan which will turn on around 245 degrees if the primary fan fails to turn on. This fan will always be turned off unless you turn on the AC or the coolant temp reaches around 245 degrees.
