transmission line help please
I want to run some -4AN braided lines from my 700 r4 to my radiator, butt ilk hits long of lines to buy. Should I get 5 ft or 6 ft. I am also buying 4an to 5an fitting so they will attach. I only ask because the 6 ft are like $15 More than the 5 ft. And I don't want the extra cost if I can avoid it.

Re: transmission line help please
it's better to have them a tad long, then to short,
and the 4an lines are a bit small. the nexed one up would be 6an and better for the flow/cooling.
4an is about half the size of the 5/16 line inside.the car comes with.
IMO
what iv seen done, is to use the hard line for the bulk of it, with the 2 hard lines zip tied
to ea other. the bent to shape under the car,(using a tube bender) not just with the Hands!
using AN fittings on ea end of the hard lines. with a few feet of the SS line also on ea end.
you can get the SS Hard line also buffs out like chrome. W/ AN fittings on the end.
the hard line to do this would cost under $6 for steel
and about $16 for the SS Hard line

-4 AN and 5/16 are pretty similar actually, but -6 AN is a better choice.

Re: transmission line help please
i used -6 the whole way on mine;on the tranny end i removed the original brass flare fittings and replaced those with 1/4"pipe> -6 adaptors. The cooler i used was from a ~1993 explorer with a fan mounted to it-didn't want to stack up adaptors to use the ford flare fittings,so carefully drilled out and retapped for 1/4" pipe.

Re: transmission line help please
How long of lines did you run? how did you route them, are you using headers or stock setup and what engine? Im running a 350 with hedman 68460 headers so Im short on space in some areas.

Re: transmission line help please
engine is '84 350 with edelbrock shorty headers.Lines go from tranny, under starter a little to the right of starter centerline, over the crossmember between spring pocket and engine mount, along vertical face of frame member, then come up and turn right to cooler located in battery tray area(battery relocated to rear)
