heater core bypass troubles

Well I had my heater core blow on me last month, so I went to oreilly and bought a plastic connector to bypass the heater core. It worked great... for a month. then the connector snapped on me and blew all my coolant over my engine bay. one piece was snapped inside of one of the molded hoses(mind you, these hoses are basically new, they were replaced 6 months ago with my engine.). So I'm going to have to replace that pre-molded hose. well this morning I got around to trying to fix the car again. I tried to get the rest of the connector out of the other hose, and it SNAPPED INSIDE THE HOSE TOO! I don't think I'm going to be able to get that hose off to replace it as the clamp is located towards the bottom and behind the engine. So besides going down to the parts store to b!tch about their crap parts, I'm not sure what to do. I was looking at the hoses, and I'm wondering if I can take the hose that runs to the oil cooler(I think?) from the rad under the cap and hook it directly to the throttle body. anything I should watch out for if that'll work? should I be worried about not having the oil cooler working? I'm not really sure about how the hoses run with the oil cooler, and I haven't found any diagrams on here. I just want to bypass everything and get her running again for now, so any suggestions would be great.

Re: heater core bypass troubles

Im also thinking maybe I can run the the line from the rad to the oil cooler, then the other line for the cooler I can connect to the throttle body. would that work? I just want to eliminate the entire heating system, bypass valve, etc. til I can work out how to fix this mess. from what I can see, hose 7 in the diagram goes to my oil cooler, then comes back and goes to the heater system. so if I connect the other end of the oil cooler to where hose 3 connects to the throttle body, I should be able to eliminate the heater system completely but keep my oil cooler intact. sound reasonable?

Re: heater core bypass troubles

Just run hose from throttle body to radiator.

Re: heater core bypass troubles

that's what I did. worked great. thanks. Just hoping the oil cooler isn't too important. I'll probably work on a way to route that in at some point, but for now the car is drivable again. Hoping I'll have a second car by next winter, so I may just remove all the heater stuff and clear out the engine bay a bit.
