transmission?

Ok so I have the turbo 350 trans, bnm shifter,so my mechanic said this is 3 speed and I didn't know the p/o had it setup so I could only go park ,neutral, reverse ,drive I didn't know there was 3 more gears, if he was apparently racing this car wouldn't he want to use them to shift at higher rpms I'm confused?

Re: transmission?

When you put the transmission in drive it will automatically go through all 3 gears.

Also why is this in the cooling section and not the transmission section?

Re: transmission?

The gear selection for a TH350 (turbo 350) goes as follows: P-R-N-D-2-1

When in D (3rd), as stated before it will shift through all gears starting in 1st, etc. It uses a vacuum system to shift gears.

I've never heard of someone preventing it from being able to be shifted into the lower gears though. Does it literally not pull down past D (3rd)?

yeah, wrong section. Mods will move it hopefully

Re: transmission?

I'm not sure what you mean by "the right alum. chrome box"

There doesn't have to be a cover for the flywheel, that part is called a dust cover. They can be purchased though if you want one. I personally don't have one.

Re: transmission?

In the first pic you posted the shiny metal box is the oil pan on your engine. The transmission pan is the more square-flat box behind the flexplate (it's not called a flywheel on automatics, forgot to correct that in the first post)
