I wanted to bypass the factory coolant and have it look factory. I used a heater control valve for a 1987 carb 5.0 Camaro since its 5/8 straight through and a 5/8 heater hose from a 99 chevy s10 had to cut about about 3 inches off. My setup is HSR but tpi should be able to use a curved piece and go into factory hookup.

 

I used an autozone heater valve and I think an advance heater hose.The pics have the part #s This pic is final install look and I used a 3/4 heater hose to go straight from the heater coil back to the radiator.
