Does this tell me the temperature of my car?? 1986 305 carb

No. Your photo shows the coolant temperature sender for the cooling fan.

The coolant temperature sender for the gauge is in the left (drivers side) head between cylinders #1 and #3.

Do you think we have enough info to decide that? Going to have to do some investigating. Easiest way to start is grounding the green wire and looking for the gauge to peg with ignition on.
