Whats the best intake manifold for street use?
Whats the best intake manifold for street use?
Looking for what kind of intake manifold i should use on my v8 short block 305. I dont really understand the engines for camaros yet. Ive been looking for intakes but most of the intakes say they only go up to 1986 and my engine is 1988? or supposedly it is. Help a boy out!

What induction system will you be using?
4bbl carb, TBI (throttle body), or TPI (tuned port)?
If 4bbl carb then the edelbrock performer would be a good one.
If your engine and heads are 1988 you need an intake that fits the '87 and up due to change in the angle of the 4 center intake bolt holes.
This one if your running a carb http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-2104/applications

The biggest issue will be, are you using centerbolt head or not (86 and newer roller block motor) as mentioned above. What year is your engine block? Will it have a roller or flat-tappet cam?
I would say the Edelbrock Performer is the best for a Qjet/Carbureted car, mainly because it fits without issue (and it's a pretty good intake).

For a 305 itsnnot going to see high rpms I assum . I'd run a regular performer intake for what ever heads/carb you have.
