dual fans in 1982 Transam

I pulled a dual fan setup from a 2000 Camaro with a 3.8 V-6. When I tried to install it in my 1982, the drivers side fan shroud is hitting the steering box. I need to lower the fans about 3/4 of an inch more.

Are these fans always this close to the steering box?

I planned on keeping my existing 3 core radiator, or do I need to change the radiator to a newer style?

Thanks guys.

Re: dual fans in 1982 Transam

I use this same style of fan on my 85 with a champion 3 core, it does sit against the steering box but the fans also sit inside the core support on my car. It shouldn't pose any problems but if your fans won't sit all the way down behind your radiator the you may have to slide the fans to the right slightly. Will your fans sit all the way down in the core support? If your not suffering any major cooling issues your existing radiator should work fine. I would recommend a two speed fan control with these as well, here is the one i use with my setup.
