Heater Core Replacement (Post Cover Removal)

I've been reading all the heater core replacement threads, almost all of them debate what's needed to remove the plastic cover, but in my car it looks really easy for me to remove the plastic cover (I have really skinny arms). But what I am struggling to understand is what I need to do after removing the cover? I assume there's a bracket or something holding the core? Are the bolts holding it in place obvious, or are they hidden?

Any other tips? I am planning to tackle it next weekend...Damn thing just started leaking last night, luckily I don't need the car this week.

If I remember correctly there are no bolts holding it in, just the hoses. If there are bolts then they must be easy to get to, since I don't remember having any trouble getting it out when I had the HVAC apart.

Re: Heater Core Replacement (Post Cover Removal)

Recently replaced the cores in both my Formula and '88. After removing the cover there is a plastic bracket that the core is attached to. There are 4, 7mm I think, screws holding the bracket in place, then there are two metal braces, again 7mm screws I think, holding the core to the bracket. The hardest part I had was trying to get the new core outlets to go through the firewall. Good luck.

It's been a while so he's probably right. The hard part is getting everything off down to where the heater core is. After that it's a breeze.

The heater core cover in a A/C equipped car is easy to get to and remove
without having to disassemble the dashboard.
Its just a couple of the screws on the cover are a PIA to get to but not
impossible..................
