oem/factory fans to fit champion radiator
hi guys
recently purchased a 3 row champion radiator, it works great , but i have a huge problem with the duel fans that came with it!!!! the company i bought it from said they were 1250 cfm each, but the are nowhere near that and can not keep up with this las vegas heat!!!!!!
so today, i went to a good friend of mine house to check out his ford dart and he fitted an chevy hhr single 14inch fan to his radiator and that thing blows soo hard!!! he turned it on and i was able to feel it all the way at the end of garage.. he was saying that single fan is about 3000+ cfm!!!!
so my question is what kind of factory electric fan with shroud that has that type of power (3000+ cfm) that i can mount on my champion 3 row radiator?
here are my radiator specs:
Core Dimensions: 17-1/4" H x 26-1/4" W x 2" Thick
Overall Dimensions: 20" H x 32" W x 2-1/2" Tank Thickness
thanks for your help in advance guys i just want to have my car runs as cool as it can in this vegas heat!!!

If you can't find a 4th gen setup, you can go this route-its a Stratus assembly rated @ 3600-3800 CFM. They are dual speed also....I build them or you can junkyard search for a good one-I look for 2000-up versions-much nicer looking than earlier years.

Re: oem/factory fans to fit champion radiator
The RF24 fans require 5.75" mounting depth....so space gets really tight. The Stratus assembly is 17x25x3 inches. It covers approx. 95% of the 3rd gen radiator. They move a LOT of air for their size.
Re: oem/factory fans to fit champion radiator
ahhhh ok well imma get those since it covers majority of the radiator!!! i also seen a thread showing how much cfm they move here:

Re: oem/factory fans to fit champion radiator
Well, the fans are dual speed so all that is needed are (2) temp switches to trigger low and high speed. You can use the ECM to trigger low speed, then have your stock temp switch trigger high speed....if you're using a factory dual fan trigger system. If you want an assembled dual speed relay kit to run them, I have them but if you want to build your own just Google dual speed fan relays and there are many diagrams showing you what you need to do.

Re: oem/factory fans to fit champion radiator
IMHO the ford single fan, 2 speed units are about the best there is. I run those on all of my builds.
IIRC low speed is over 3,000 cfm and high speed is like 4500 cfm.
Cools mine very good. 355, 10.34:1 compression, Brodix IK 200 heads, 249/252@.050", .570"/.579" lift, 3500 stall, th-400 trans, ford 9" 3.89 gears. Was a daily driver for past 8 years or so.
A few summers ago, I drove from GA. to MS. in the mid summer (92-98* outside temp) non stop (well stopped to re fuel a couple of times) and my coolant temps stayed in check the whole trip. Hottest it got was 210* if I remember right, sitting in traffic for 30 min after had been driving for over 5 hours already. Temps stayed in the 189-194* range for the whole trip (other than that one spike)

Re: oem/factory fans to fit champion radiator
On NEW Motorcraft RF24 fans they were rated at 2800 CFM on low and 4400 on high-so with used ones (Motorcraft NOS aren't available anymore-just cheapo quality Dorman) expect 2500 and 4000 CFM. Actual amp draw can vary-depends on how you control the speeds. Siemens/VDO of Canada built the original ones per Fords high quality control standard and its extremely doubtful the Chinese put the same amount of craftsmanship into the cheap replacements. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for and this is the case with genuine Motorcraft fans-I'd buy a used Motorcraft over a NEW Chinese one every time.

I have that fan setup, new from ebay, but no wiring harness at all. Do you build them?

Yes I do. I build fan harnesses as dual speed so you’ll have high and low. I can also supply either GM temp switches or a BMW dual temp fan switch as well.

Cool, I'd like to plug it in to my existing harness, but with both fans running low and high speeds instead of the factory one on for low and two fans for high temps.

Re: oem/factory fans to fit champion radiator
Mine wont plug into an existing fan harness since its meant as a stand alone requiring 2 temp switch triggers unless you are planning on the ECM triggering low speed and the engine temp switch triggering high speed? So basically you’ll just need to tap into my trigger leads it sounds like. Is that what you’re wanting to do?
