Need some fan help.

What's up guys I'm having a weird problem with my fans. This morning I went to start the car and the battery was dead I accidently left the ignition in the on position. I charged the battery and the car started right up. I noticed my gauges where not working, the fuse was bad changed it everything worked. I went to start the car and with the key on my fans come on? It never use to do that usually they would turn on when it hit operating temp. I changed a 5 pin relay that was on the driver side fire wall. But still nothing. Any help would be great thanks.

Is there another relay after that that maybe could be stuck open somewhere?

Re: Need some fan help.

From what I've been reading the po installed a relay to control the fans. On the driver side firewall there is a 30 amp relay with 4 connectors. 1 is ground another is a black and purple wire. 1 is orange and another a thin grey one it looks like. When I dis connect the black and purple one the fans stop turning on. When it's connected they kick on when the key is turned on without starting the car.

Re: Need some fan help.

I figured out 2 of my spark plug wires where off so I connected them and it runs fine now. Still can't get the fans to kick on. I replaced the 30 amp relay already. The only way I get them to kick on is if I put a jumper from the 12 v to the black and purple wire going to the fans. Both kick on.

Fantastic Fan Plan

No telling how much the PO messed with the fan wiring so you probably need to visually trace wires to make sure he didn’t make connections where none belong.

Did you remove the relay with fan running to verify it was the Fan Relay?

If yes, use a voltmeter or test light
(the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) to see if there is power on the orange wire at the fan relay.

The car can be totally off when you are testing for that voltage.

Is there power there?

Re: Fantastic Fan Plan

Well I've run a switch for a temp fix. But I want to get it going. The 4 wires a traced where. My 12v ignition coming from the fan fuse. My ground. A black with purple going into the fans. And an all orange one I don't know where this one goes.

Re: Need some fan help.

The black and purple is jumped to the other fan wire on the passanger side too. So those where all the wires o traced going into the relay. The ac switch on the passenger side head is cancelled so I'm going to check the one on the driver side head. How can i check this switch?
