Different temp sensors for ECM and gauge?
Hello!
I wonder if there are two different temperature sensors used for the ECM and the dash gauge? If so (or if only one), can you help telling me where they are placed on the Camaro 350 TPI '89?
Thanks!

Yes ecm in thermostat housing gauge in drivers side of block front under exhaust manifold. Suggest you buy a Haynes manual available at most auto parts stores and book stores. I love mine.

Re: Different temp sensors for ECM and gauge?
the gauge sender is actually in the cylinder head, between the 1 and 3 cylinders (the two front ones on the driver's side). it will have a dark green wire going to it.
the sender that the ecm uses to figure out how to operate the engine is somewhere close to where the upper radiator hose hooks to the intake manifold: my fuzzy memory is telling me it's got a yellow wire and a black wire going to it, but i might be mistaken. they changed them a couple of times early on, but pretty much every GM car and truck used the same temp sender from the late 80's to sometime in the early 00's..

Re: Different temp sensors for ECM and gauge?
Thank you guys, I think I found them both. Gauge sensor just as you said in the left head and the other one (yellow and black wire) just underneath the air intake/throttle housing, quite close to the thermostat.
Yes, should get a Haynes manual. I actually got a Chilton's which I've used some but it's not at all as good as I remember Haynes has been, which I've used for other vehicles. Good reminder!
Cheers,
