Radiator Fan wiring burned up

Hi guys,

Here's a little background first...I've had a Ford Taurus fan installed for about 5 years working great with the stock wiring (plus a bit of wire and inline fuse) and the low speed connected only. My a/c compressor went out a couple of years ago and I've had no cooling issues during that time (other than me being hot). Two weekends ago I replaced the compressor finally, charged the refrigerant up to spec, and even replaced the leaky old radiator and water pump for good measure.

Suddenly on my way home yesterday my car started getting hot and when I got home I saw that all the "new" wiring between the Taurus fan connector (including the inline 30 amp fuse) and the old fan connector was gone. It had melted, burned up, whatever. The wiring between the Taurus connector and fan motor was fine. I'm no forensics expert but the largest melty bit seemed to be focused on the fan shroud right about where the 30 amp fuse used to be. I've ran the fan non-stop without a/c for years in the summer with my manual fan switch and there were no issues. I can't think of any reason why the a/c being fixed would suddenly burn up my fan wiring other than maybe the wiring and/or fuse was a little undersized and couldn't take the heat anymore. Maybe the timing was just a coincidence and I need to upgrade my wiring??
