anyone running distilled water and Redline Water Wetter

I'm in the middle of doing a complete fluids change in my car and was debating on using the green stuff, the orange stuff or going with distilled water and a couple bottles of Redline Water Wetter.

This is a garage kept spring/summer/fall car. No winter driving at all and it will not be in any temps under 50 degrees.

Car has 58K miles on it and would like a coolant that will give me a few more miles out of the engine than regular green stuff.

Considered there are multiple 200k+ mile 350's out there, I wouldn't worry too much about the coolant. I run green coolant with the stock cooling system without any issues.

I don't think putting in a different type of coolant really would matter long term, at least, measurably.

You can get a lower temp t-stat and have the chip burned to kick the fan on sooner if you are wanting to lower temps consistently.

I run that combo in my 40k mi vert. It definitely runs cooler but I can't say for certain if it was the mix or the fact that the flush that I did was probably its first flush EVER.

The coolants have additives for rust prevention and pump lubrication. I would resit running anything but one of the better brand anti-freeze even if the car never sees cold weather.

Green stuff works fine if you flush it every couple years.

X2 unless u see track use. They dont like coolant in cars. I ran water and water wetter just fine. Didnt see any difference in cooling in my turbo motor vs 50:50 antifreeze.

Thanks guys. I will just drain as much of the original 58K miles coolant as possible and refill with the same green stuff mixed with distilled water.

Didn't DexCool come out as a replacement for the old green stuff? I thought the DexCool was better with aluminum?

EDIT: Did some research and found that DexCool probably is better with Aluminum but it has a disadvantage:

"Dexcool turns into a very strong acid when its heated and mixed with air.....so a open recovery tank is asking for trouble. So is running the rad low on coolant. If its a pressurized closed tank your ok with dexcool."

This was pretty informative too:http://ls1tech.com/forums/general-ma...l#post12843293

This was the problem with vortec motors blowing intake gaskets all the time IMHO. Everyone was blaming the two piece plastic intakes back then, but when I took my truck in for its second intake job, the guy looked at me and said "look, its not factory, and its not recommended, but if you want to fix this thing let me lower your thermostat to 180, and change the dexcool over to green" He was right too. I have since retired that truck but I still have it. She has 360,000 miles and I use it hauling and for mulch every year now. It runs cool and I put 200K on it with his coolant swap with no more troubles. I swear it gets better gas mileage running cooler too, but I never calculated.
