R-12 to R-134a conversion

Hey guys, I'm sure this has been asked before, and done for that matter, but my aunt has a 92' RS body camaro with the v6 in it. We are trying to get an idea of what needs to be done to do it, in order to swap a 134a system into it. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Without adding any dye to it, it seems as though the compressor is the biggest problem, lots of oil around it ( I think it's all o.e. so I know the potiential for other problems are there). That's why I believe it would be better to just swap it all and get something up to date. Thank you guys!

Re: R-12 to R-134a conversion

IMO, the only way to convert to from R12 to R134a is a complete tear down of the system, flush the hard lines, condenser and evaporator to remove all traces of incompatible oil, replace the hose assembly, orifice tube, receiver/dryer and compressor. Refill with oil, vacuum and re-fill with R134a.

I left out some particular details, but you get the idea. It's expensive and labor intensive to be taking short cuts when doing this.

If your local HVAC shop can still do R12, I would stick with that.
