Coolant temperature sensor difference

Just swapped out the 1986 305 TPI motor with a 350 TPI motor and the front of the intake manifolds are entirely different. So, looking at the facing of the 305 manifold, I have the water flow nozzle and then a wired sensor on the rh side looking directly at the front of the engine. Then you look to your LH side, I have two small threaded holes and then yet another larger hole below them this has a sensor that has an injector type plug. Now the 350 intake manifold has everything on the RH side, but on the LH side, I have the two small bolt holes, but am missing the larger hole at the bottom. First thing is this the temperature coolant sensor, and if so, where did they put this on my 350 ? The engine is a 10243880, 90-95 ZZ-4 Crate motor. Before I installed the motor, I wanted to use my 305 manifold, but the two center attach bolts on either LH or RH side wouldn't bolt up. Tried different sequences for two days, but she wouldn't go into those four holes.

Those 4 holes are at a different angle on your 86 manifold. You need to mod the manifold or get a newer style with the proper angle. Yours will never bolt up as is.

Red arrow connector is the Cold start Injector Switch
Blue arrow is Coolant Temp Sensor

Re: Coolant temperature sensor difference

Thank you for the intake mating issue. Thought I was losing it. K, so I know that I put the coolant temp sensor where the cold start switch should go, so I will swap it out, but still not too sure where they put that coolant temp sensor since there's no hole in the front of the intake for it.

Re: Coolant temperature sensor difference

I googled it and the 350 I saw in the video didn't show a hole either.

Thanks man. My buddy came over and will were able to add this to the existing 350 manifold safely.
