V Belt car to serpentine setup ac question

I swapped my 85 tpi iroc over to serpentine belt. I can grab the condenser, all hoses, reciver dryer and compressor from the diner serpentine car. Should these parts work in my 85?

You really only need the compressor and hoses for the swap, and maybe the hard tube that comes off the evaporator, but at this point the hoses are old and should probably be changed

The hose is like $60 new. No point in a used one. Sadly the compressors are dog$hit for reliability so may as well just get a new one with reciever-drier for $175. Get the orange orifice tube for a 96 crown vic. Make sure you flush the system and if you are going to go with 134A, get quality adapter fittings. The cheap ones have junk shraders.

I swapped a carb 305 car to a healthy TPI 355 and used a serpentine setup from an early 90s B-car. New reman compressor and a new a/c manifold hose from Rockauto. Swapped the orifice to a Ford .057", flushed the system really well before adding Pag oil, vacuuming it, and recharging . With V6 4th gen F-car fans at the center vent it blows 42°F at idle and 36°F cruising down the highway. I also used a 140a CS-144 alternator from an Express van to keep up with the newer fans.

Grab everything, and the answer is yes. If you don't use the donor car's evaporator and condenser you can run into configuration differences that will keep things from bolting up. You'll need at least the later car's evaporator and the hardline to the condenser since they're different on later cars.

I didn't change any of the hard lines or condenser core on my 86. The serp. setup I used was from a 90-92 car. All I used was the compressor, and the hose assembly from the donor. Everything else bolted up for me. The compressor blew up after about 20 minutes and I had to swap in a new compressor kit but otherwise it works ok. Mine's a Firebird, not a Camaro though so maybe there's a difference there.

Where you can run into problems is mixing and matching. The evaporator and high pressure hard line changed from a horizontal section housing the orifice tube to a vertical section somewhere around 88. I've seen it mentioned a few times, the condenser is different on some 92s, might be another 91.5 change. The point is that by using EVERYTHING from a donor car, you get a matched system and dont have to worry about splicing pig and elephant DNA.
