Cleaning cooling system

What has everybody used to clean all the rust and build up in your cooling system? The car is going to be a drag car only so I removed the heater core all together. I thought about poring some bottle of clr and diluting it with water. Anybody got any other ideas?

Re: Cleaning cooling system

T.H.E. Hose. Garden style... Drained all the coolant from the rad, and the coolant jackets of the block, disposed of in accordance with local ordinance. Then filled the rad back up with tap water, ran the engine until warm, drained the mess, refill, repeat, heat cycle, drain, at one point I may or may not have just stuck the hose in the open radiator and let it and the engine run a bit. I had a pretty serious case of septic sludge in the cooling system. Before going back in with the fresh green stuff, I put a bottle of commercial flush in the rad and drove it a little to get it up to temp, then drained and filled again with the good stuff.

If the coolant doesn't look more like mud than ethylene glycol, I wouldn't worry about taking it to extremes, buy in the case above it was rusty mud.
