Fan switch depth

Hey all -

Last year I replaced my fan switch. Came on, fried the relay. After replacing it, the temp it came on was redline which i didn't like. So i just swapped in a lower temp delco switch, however i can't get it in all the way. Is this normal / ok? I can put the tip of my thumb between the switch and the block. No coolant is coming out. It came pre-wrapped with teflon tape, and it was starting to come out/off in the gap. I don't wanna force it - not sure if leaving it is ok and will result in normal fan operation or if I should try and pull it back out and replace it again.

It’s npt, it will not thread in all the way.

Check the bulb on the end of the switch that protrudes into the head.Some have a large bulb and some have a small one even though they are the same temp turn on point.If you have a large one it is probably hitting on the inside of the head preventing it from going all the way in because of rust build up.

You callin my girl rusty?!?!?!? Kiddin. I'd have to back it out, which would involve more coolant coming all over me. If it's npt and normal, i'm good with a few threads out long as its not gonna cause me issues.
