Name that sensor/sending unit

Trying to find the correct part # to replace these two.

1989 Trans Am - 5.7 TPI

#1 the top part was broken off.

I'm pretty sure #2 is coolant temp sender, but I'm not seeing the right part# online to replace.

Re: Name that sensor/sending unit

#1 is probably the fan switch. If it came from between the #6 & #8 spark plugs, that's what it is.

#2 is the temp gauge sending unit. Should have come from between the #1 & #3 spark plugs.

The one you buy in the store won't have that mushroom style connector. It'll be a blade. The plug on the wire will plug right onto that just as well as it did on the mushroom.

Both of those parts are 3/8" NPT thread, screwed into a 3/8" - ½" NPT bushing. That's because newer heads have the smaller hole in them, and somebody used the bushings to make them fit into a larger hole. Looks like you have older heads on your car. Make sure you take the bushings off of the old parts before you throw them away.

Re: Name that sensor/sending unit

Thanks for the quick reply! I do have some TFS heads that are now about 12+ years old.

#1 - I lost track where it came out of, but it must be that and I have forgotten what kind I had. I bought a new JET fan switch 60600, but does not look anything like this older one (must be bushing added).

#2 - Yes, saw the blade only style online. Makes sense, thanks!
