1992 Z28, 5.0 automatic, secondary fan not working. need cooling fan switch part #

Hello,

I'm new to the group. I am having a few issues. I just purchased a 1992 Z28, 5.0 automatic. My secondary fan is not working. The relay seems to be good. I swapped it with the primary and the primary works. When I place power on one if the pins of the A/C pressure switch, the fan spins (I think I have a bad pressure switch).I can’t get the radiator coolant switch (mine is under the throttle body) to activate the fan. I tried tying the 2 pins together and no luck, can someone point me in the right direction? All the wiring seems to be intact, no splices or funny stuff.

I have also been searching for and can’t find any updated part numbers for the "Fan cooling switch" mine is under the throttle body and is a 2 terminal type. I have a dual fan setup from factory. I need to know what the part numbers are for the colder switches, on/off temps. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks again,

AFAIK there are no fan switches under the TB, or that have 2 wires.

The thing you're messing with sounds more like the coolant temp sensor. Something else altogether. If its wires are yellow & black, that's what it is.

If you car has a fan switch, it's in the passenger side head, between the #6 & #8 spark plugs. Single pin, round. Should have a green w/ white stripe wire.

Thanks, the coolant temp sensor controls the gauge? i found my fan switch, its on the drivers side between 1 and 3. does this control my secondary fan? how do i test.

No. The temp gauge sending unit works the gauge. That's the thing between #1 & #3 spark plugs. The fan switch, if your car has one, is in the same hole, on the other head. The coolant temp sensor tells the ECM the coolant temp.

Thanks for the info. to test the fan switch, should i ground it and see if the fan works? do you know the part numbers for a colder switch?

Yes; grounding the wire should turn on the fan.

Don't know the part #, but just go to the store and ask for one for like a 85 GN.
