1992 RS 305 V8 overheating and rpm issue

Hello everyone, i have always drove around my Camaro and it would potentially hit 220 degrees max sometimes. Now recently as i start the car and drive it will heat up untill it hits the redline on the temp gauge, it doesn't hop back down and cool when it hits a certain temp anymore, and also i noticed that as i drive it the rpm starts hopping around and the longer you drive the more aggressive it starts to move. sorry if i couldn't be clearer but im just lost with what to do at this point. We have done water pump new fan motor heater core and thermostat a while ago.

If you're sure the fan motor will turn when 12 volts is applied, then most likely your fan switch is toast. You can test by removing the connector to the fan switch ( located in the head between the # 6 and # 8 spark plugs)
and ground it with the key on. That should turn on the fan if the fan and relay are good. If that works, replace the fan switch. Lots of threads on here about that and good replacement options to lower turn on temps.
Before disconnecting the wire, you can also slide the AC slider to on with key on if you have that installed and that should also turn on the fan providing all wiring is intact. Use the search feature at the right end of that blue line up on this page and enter fan switch to get tons of info.
Welcome to TGO. Best source of info on your car online.
This also assumes your air dam is intact. You can search on here for info on that also
Have fun!
