1987 Firebird engine air intake parts question
I recently purchased an 87 Firebird that originally was a 305 tpi 700R4. It now has the same transmission but has a reman GM 350. My question is about air to cool the engine. I see there is an air dam that looks like a lower spoiler. A friend that has an 87 Formula showed me that there is a plastic cover on his that attaches to the bottom of the front bumper and then curves up and is supposed to help direct air toward the radiator. The front bumper on mine looks original but doesn't have any holes in the bumper underneath like his that would fasten the front part to hold on that cover. Did my Firebird originally come with that plastic part? Is there a diagram somewhere I can see of the parts if needed? Thanks.

Re: 1987 Firebird engine air intake parts question
I found a few pictures and comments about air dams and deflectors in cooling. I see that I do have the lower part that attaches to the radiator support and sticks down and has a flat rectangle piece on each side that fills in from the bumper to the fenders. It appears to be one piece. But that is all that is there. I haven't had this firebird very long but the temperature has always stayed cool so far. I don't see any other plastic deflector parts. I'm trying to find out if there are any other parts that should be there. Evidently the Formula has more parts to it.

my Base didn;t have it...but my Formula 305 TPI did.
I remvoed it though...so far i don't seem to have issues.
his thread is about a trans Am but has pics from LB formulla so it shoukd be relevant...its what mine had as well.
