Cooling fans on at highway speed question
I have 1988 Trans Am with a 305 TPI motor......Am running a stock 195 thermostat.....put in a SW555 secondary fan switch and now the car runs much cooler in traffic.....my only concern is that the fans now stay on too long?.......is there an automatic shut off in the car for the fans once the vehicule reaches highway speeds?......or will I have to install another secondary switch or install a 180 Degree thermostat?....Thanks

Only the primary fan is ecm controlled on/off based on temp. Off at 35mph unless over 228f.

What is too long, and why is that causing a problem? Just trying to get to the root of the problem here, as it would seem your setup is working as intended.

Re: Cooling fans on at highway speed question
It is working well except the cooling fans are not turning off ..Don't like the idea of driving on the highway with a fan on...I think that the "off" point for the secondary switch must be well below 195 Degrees.....and this 195 thermostat doesn't allow the engine to go below that temp...I'll try a 180 thermostat ....Thanks
