92 305ci fan will not come on

I have run direct power to the fan. It comes on. I have found the green and white wire at the relay. Under the car, I found there was no wire hooked to the fan switch. Couldn't find the wire dangling anywhere. It's like it was never there. I spliced into that green and white wire at the relay. I grounded the spliced in wire and the fan comes on. So, I ran a wire from the switch to the relay. Fan does not come on. I replaced the fan switch. Hooked my wire to it and fan still does not come on. What that the heck? Perhaps I should just put a switch in the cockpit and try to remember to switch it on? Any thoughts appreciated.

Check the switch is making a good ground connection through the threaded hole in the head-no thread tape

thanks for suggestion. The switch did come with teflon tape on it. I will take the switch back out and remove the Teflon tape.
