Code 14 - Coolant Sensor Shorted
Code 14 - Coolant Sensor Shorted
I've got this code on my 84 Z28 original LG4 305. This has a clutch fan for cooling, not electric.
I'm not sure what this Code 14 code means. Any idea what I should be doing here?

Replace the coolant temp sensor, along with its pathetic excuse for a connector.
I think "they" all figured out about 30 yrs ago if not more, that that STUUUUUUPID coaxial kind of thing those came with, was a rotating vibrating POS. Nowadays you can get a CTS with the new style (2-pin oval) connector in the box with it; and if that one isn't in stock, you can get just the sensor, and a pigtail separately. Same sensor, and pigtail, as on lots of much newer cars.
Just swap it all out. use solder and heat shrink to connect the new pigtail. NOT crimp splices, and above all, NOT Scotchlocks. Doesn't matter which wire of the harness goes to which one of the pigtail.

Water outlet, about an inch from the end of the upper radiator hose. Has a yellow and a black wire. The insulation is probably crumbled to dust right next to the connector, along with the connector itself, and the 2 metal pieces in the connector are probably touching.

Yup that's it; the one in the pic doesn't look like the kind that has The Problem though. It's exactly the same except different.
No worries though. Go ahead and change yours out, with the newer-style oval connector type.
