Coolant Leak
Coolant Leak
hello, I need help identifying the lines that I have coolant leaking off of in this photo. This is my 1987 camaro v6, and im not sure what the line is and why the coolant is pooling and leaking off of the three spots I have shown. Any help would be appreciated, this is my first car. Thanks.

Re: Coolant Leak
The power steering cooler lines don’t have coolant in them. The coolant is leaking to the lowest point. You might be be able to determine the cause witch pressurizing the radiator and looking for leaks. Probably around the side tanks.

Re: Coolant Leak
Those "lines" are the power steering fluid cooler.
Your radiator has a leak and the coolant from that is merely running down and dripping off of the PSF cooler. It's not coming from the PSF cooler itself.

I should add also, that it's not impossible that your water pump is leaking, and the fluid is running down the back/bottom of the lower radiator hose to get there. Since I've never even seen a 6-cyl in one of these cars, I have no clue how the hose is routed, butt I can't imagine that it would be much different from any other engine. In nearly all vehicles w longitudinally mounted engines like ours, you can get up under the car near the front of the engine, and look up at that area; if you do that, and can see the hose, and there's a trail of fluid or dried-up residue on that hidden side of the rad hose, then your fluid is coming from the WP. Usually if the WP leeeeeeeeks though, fluid drips onto the back of the pulley while it's running, and gets slung in a mist all over everything under the hood; and the smell can be fairly strong.
