1990 camaro rs engine cooling fan relay question

Hi,im having an issue with the relay intermittently not working unless I tap it with a screwdriver handle once in a while. There are two relays on the firewall on the driver's side of the car. The one I have been tapping is the one off the the right. I noticed today that both of the relays are the same exact part number. The one to the left is for the fuel pump, correct? The local parts house wants $28 for this thing

What colors are the wires?

No big surprise that they're the same part #... a relay is a pretty dumb thing basically, just an electromagnetically operated switch. Kinda like, in your house, there's no reason that the switch for the kitchen lights and the one for the disposal, have to be different. They do the exact same thing, electrically.

If both relays are the same part number, there’s a good chance they’re interchangeable, but I wouldn’t assume the left one is definitely the fuel pump without checking a wiring diagram or the service manual for your exact model. The tapping trick usually points to a failing relay with worn internal contacts, so replacing it is the right move rather than just living with it. At $28, it’s honestly not worth risking a breakdown when a new relay will likely solve the intermittent issue completely. If you want to be extra sure, you could swap the two relays temporarily and see if the problem follows the relay or stays with the circuit.
