ok how dose the air work that gets injected into the exhaust. wouldn’t it make the o2 read lean all the time. can it be turned off and if i turn it off will it make the motor run any better. on top of this what will happen if i shut of the egr.

It is only injected into the exhaust manifolds during open loop and (I think) power enrichment (aka: WOT). All other times (primarily when in closed loop), the air is diverted into the catalytic converter. You can disconnect the wiring harness, remove the air pump, plug up the holes in the manifold and cat, any of the above, and the computer won't care.

If you shut off the EGR (I assume you mean physically disable it), you'll probably set an SES code and might run into detonation problems when driving. The best way is to shut it off in the computer itself (burn your own chip).

If that's the case, then it shuts off once the computer is in closed loop. I'm not sure how to disable it in the chip itself, but I'm sure it can be done.
