Dead ECM??

Hey I need some help diagnosing my starting problem that started this morning... my 85 IROC won't start... it cranks and i can smell gas but the SES light doesnt come on at all anymore (when i turn the key on but not crank the engine). I disconnected the battery and tried to start the car again and it almost started but then i heard a clicking from down by the ECM and still no SES light activity. I've had the car for 4.5 years and never had the ECM out of its spot im guessing its the original from back in 85. If anyone has any ideas what the problem could be please help! Thanks in advance.

PS its a 305 TPi automatic if there is anything else you need to know let me know.

Could also be a bad fuel pump or your timing chain jumped a couple of teeth.

If anyone read this and was wondering i solved the problem. It was the fuel pump relay/fuse that was gone. replaced both and the check engine light began to work again and the car will now start.
